Chevron & Stripe Nursery Painting in Des Peres
CHEVRON & STRIPE PAINTING PROCESS
This fun recent project was in Des Peres for a customer with a toddler and a baby on the way. For this project:- We applied a base color to entire room in each room and let paint dry overnight.
- Then next day we laid out horizontal stripes in one room and chevron stripes in the other. (We used a straight edge measuring stick (a 60"), 4' level, pencil and 1.5" Frog Tape).
- After the customer determined the layout they wanted, we used a light pencil line to mark the layout. (We marked the stripes we intended to paint with an X so we applied the tape properly.)
- Next we taped the lines (just shy of pencil line so it is covered when painting) with Frog Tape to allow for paint to be applied on areas desired. (Depending on the size of the stripes, an appropriate roller cover is used to paint the most efficiently.)
- With a brush and 9" roller, we cut in the corners and rolled out the stripes.
- Once paint had tacked up (dry to touch), we applied a 2nd coat of paint.
- We pulled the tape off while the 2nd coat was still wet, using caution to not let tape touch wall while removing.
- Last, we let the wall fully dry, and that was it!
With one man working, this nursery painting project took approximately 2 days to prepare and paint 2 coats of base color, and 1 day to layout and paint stripes (2 rooms).
