Kennedy In The Community- January Cervical Cancer Awareness Month
Show Me Healthy Women
To kick off our Kennedy In the Community for 2023, we chose to donate to the Show Me Healthy Women Program. January is Cervical Cancer Awareness month. The SMHW program is an initiative provided by the Department of Health and Senior Services in Missouri. This program is designed to provide free screenings and preventive health services to women in the state. Through this program, women can access a variety of health services, including mammograms, Pap tests, breast exams, and cervical cancer screenings. The program also provides access to health education and health counseling services.
The Show Me Healthy Women program is available to all women in Missouri, regardless of income level. Women who meet certain eligibility requirements can receive free services from a local healthcare provider. The program also provides assistance with finding a provider, scheduling appointments, and obtaining follow-up care. In addition, the program supports women in their efforts to make healthy lifestyle choices, such as eating a nutritious diet and getting regular exercise. The program also provides resources and support to help women quit smoking.
