Kitchen Cabinet Painting in St. Louis County, MO

This kitchen cabinet refinishing project was completed for homeowner Linda, who wanted a fresh and more updated look without the cost of a full kitchen remodel. Located in the heart of St. Louis County, this project highlights how Kennedy Painting’s cabinet painting can deliver high-end results while staying within budget.

Linda reached out letting us know she wanted to update the look of her kitchen through cabinet painting. She wanted a fresh, durable finish that would coordinate with her existing Irish Crème Classic cabinetry from Yorktown. Our team provided a detailed estimate and color matched the new painted surfaces to the existing cabinetry to ensure a seamless, cohesive look throughout the space.

Before

We began by sanding all cabinet surfaces with 320-grit paper, followed by a wipe-down with Acetone to remove oils and residue. To protect the rest of the kitchen, we masked off all nearby surfaces using plastic, paper, and drop cloths. In areas with heavy wood grain, primer was rolled on for better penetration and sealing. Then, we applied one coat of BIN Shellac-Based Primer, followed by two sprayed coats of Gemini Evo Cabinet Finish in a satin sheen. This system offers a smooth, durable finish that holds up beautifully in high-use spaces. The color was custom matched to the existing Irish Crème Classic cabinetry from Yorktown for a seamless look.

Cabinet interiors were left unpainted unless glass-fronted, and no caulking was used to prevent future failure. The project included a rolling cart in place of a fixed island, finished to match the cabinets, and included in the job cost. The homeowner may add extra doors later, and pricing was structured accordingly. Turnaround was 4–7 days, with a 30-day full cure time advised for optimal results.

She mentioned his punctuality, thorough explanation of the cabinet painting process, and his ability to work within her budget.

Weeks later, after the work was completed, Linda returned to her original review and updated it to reflect the final results. She shared her excitement about the transformation and praised the team’s attention to detail, especially how well the wood surround and flooring were protected during the project.
