Restoring Koch House: Historical Exterior Repainting in Columbia, IL
We're thrilled to be at the Koch House off of Historic Main Street in Columbia, IL. This beautiful two-story brick house was built in the 1870s by Mr. Fred Koch, a talented carpenter and builder, for his family. This remarkable house has a rich history, having remained in the family until the 1940s. In 1974, it was purchased by the esteemed president of Columbia's Sister Cities organization, who lovingly restored it to its former glory. Our team is honored to be entrusted with repainting the entire exterior of this cherished landmark. Being a part of this historical journey fills us with pride, and we can't wait to see the Koch House shine once more.
The project involves painting the exterior prepping restoration and painting. The surfaces received two coats of Sherwin William's Latitude paint, with the color and sheen to be chosen to match the existing color layout. Before painting, all surfaces will be scraped, lightly sanded, and caulked to fill any necessary gaps. The exposed brick will be primed before receiving the finished paint.
In addition to painting, the crew will provide various preparation services, including spot-priming bare wood and protecting areas not being re-finished with tape, masking paper, plastic, or drop cloths. The crew will also help lift flower boxes from the house and store them safely while the house is being painted.
The scope of work includes repainting the entire exterior including the soffits, fascia, trim, columns, doors and frames, wood shutters, window frames, guttering system, and foundation.
